Not a photographer with a hard drive — a studio that hands your floor one less thing to worry about.
Brass Lantern is a two-person restaurant and hospitality photography studio in Brooklyn. We produce the shoot, style the plates, light the room, edit the gallery, and write the license — so the only thing you have to do is cook and open the doors.
Working the prep window
We learned this trade on the other side of the pass
We spent years in service before we ever picked up a camera — so we shoot with the floor in mind, not against it.
Brass Lantern began when a chef friend in Ditmas Park showed us a folder of her menu photos: cold food, flat light, a dining room that looked nothing like the place people actually loved. She'd paid real money for images she couldn't bring herself to post. We offered to re-shoot a few dishes between lunch and dinner — and a studio grew out of that one afternoon.
Since then we've built a way of working that respects how a restaurant actually runs. We book around your prep window, bring our own lighting and styling kit, and stay out of the line. Your kitchen keeps cooking; we keep clicking.
Every gallery is shot, styled, and retouched by the same two people — so the light that lands on your branzino in March matches the light on your winter menu in November. That consistency is the whole point.
The things we won't cut corners on
These aren't slogans — they're the decisions we make on your shoot day, every time, so you never have to ask twice.
Food that reads true
We style to make your dish look like your dish — the portion your guest gets, lit so it still looks appetizing an hour after it's plated. No glue, no fake steam, no bait-and-switch.
A license you can read
Usage rights written in plain English, included with every delivery. Run your images on the site, the window, the delivery apps, and the wall — you'll never hit a paywall on your own photos.
Dates you can count on
A first-look gallery within 48 hours of the shoot and a final delivery you can plan a launch around. If a menu drops next week, we move at the speed of your menu.
You'll work with the same two eyes, start to finish
There's no account manager, no rotating freelancer, no hand-off. The person who answers your first email is the person styling your plates, metering your room, and sending your gallery. We keep the roster small on purpose — it's how the work stays consistent and the scheduling stays honest.
We cap our calendar so no restaurant becomes an afterthought. If we take your date, it's yours.
